There are A LOT of misconceptions about where to file for an LLC and which states have the better benefits. Legally it's appropriate to file in the State in which you are doing business, meaning the state where you live. So whether you have clients in other states or not, make sure you're filing in your home state if you live and work in there.

Every state has their own fees and costs associated with filing the Articles of Organization and other initial filings.
